Does the hadis regarding the muflis/bankrupt in the hereafter contradicts with the Quranic verse?
Penyoal: Tidak diketahui

Soalan:
Assalamua`alaikum. With regards to the hadis: “Do
you know who is bankrupt?” They said, “The one without money or goods is bankrupt.”
The Prophet said, “Verily, the bankrupt of my nation are those who come on the
Day of Resurrection with prayers, fasting, and charity, but also with insults,
slander, consuming wealth, shedding blood, and beating others. The oppressed
will each be given from his good deeds. If his good deeds run out before
justice is fulfilled, then their sins will be cast upon him and he will be
thrown into the Hellfire.”

Does the hadis regarding the muflis/bankrupt in
the hereafter contradicts with the Quranic verse “And no bearer of burdens will
bear the burden of another”?
Jawapan:
Waalaikumussalam warahmatullah wa barakatuh
Regarding the Quranic verse and hadith mentioned
above, Imam al-Nawawi gave his commentary under the same hadith [no: 2581] in
his famous syarh of Sahih Muslim. He quoted the explanation given by Imam
al-Maziri (another ulama who also had written a syarh on Sahih Muslim).
Imam Maziri said that this hadith doesn’t
contradict with the verse mentioned above. This is only the thought of some
deviant and ignorant people.
In fact, the punishment one will receive on the
day of qiyamah is based on the justice of Almighty Allah. Allah will not
oppress any of His creation. Indeed, Allah is most forgiving and most
passionate.
As far as muflis is concerned on the day of
qiyamah, if he fails to repay the rights of others which are upon him, he must
pay them with his good deeds accordingly. And if he finishes all his good
deeds, he will take the bad deeds of those he oppressed in the worldly life
accordingly.
So, the action of taking others' bad deeds is
based on one's bad actions and oppressions in worldly life itself. And the
meaning of the quranic verse is that no one will take any blame or punishment
on behalf of anybody without any clear and valid reason in the eyes of syarak.
Allah knows the best.
